In Sweden 200 000 measurements is done yearly. In Finland only 10 000 measurements is done yearly. This is only 5 % of Sweden´s measurements.

Radon levels are highest in the world in Nordic countries.

The biggest disadvantage of radon is in Finland, Norway, Denmark and Sweden.

  • In Denmark appr 65 000 habitations have radon levels over the national recommendation 200 Bq/m3
  • In Norway over 150 000 habitations have radon levels over 200 Bq/m3 which is national recommendation for highest level of radon in indoor air
  • In Sweden appr 450 000 habitations have radon levels over 200 Bq/m3 which is national recommendation for highest level of radon in indoor air
  • In Finland it is estimated that more than 200 000 habitations have radon levels over 200 Bq/m3. National recommendation for after 1992 built habitations 200 Bq/m3, older habitations 400 Bq/m3.

World Health Organization´s recommendation for highest radon levels is 100 Bq/m3.

Radon causes in the Nordic Countries about 1300 lung cancer deaths yearly.
